- Psalm 23:3 – He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s
sake.
Jude 1:20 – But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
Titus 3:5 – Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.
After the approach of Psalm 23:1 and the trust built in verse 2, we find ourselves reaping a gracious relationship with God in verse 3. This relationship is like that of the potter and the clay. When we yield ourselves to His hands, He brings beauty into our lives, restoring the broken pieces.
He always gives beauty for ashes.
Oil of joy for mourning.
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness (Isaiah 61:3).
You must, however, hand Him the pieces, the ashes, the mourning, or the heaviness. Within this relationship, the key that unlocks restoration is the privilege to repent and to realize that, in your hands, life falls short.
When we go to Him in humility, that of a contrite heart, it’s as if His heart also breaks and can’t help but sweep in and defend and renew us. He is the High Priest that can be and is touched by the feeling of our infirmities. Find peace in that repentance does not equate condemning yourself, but rather falling at the feet of Jesus and finding mercy.
Why is He so merciful?
He wants to impute His righteousness on our lives. By doing so, we know Him deeper and are renewed. A life built on this beautiful cycle will produce fruit for the Kingdom, ultimately bringing Him glory.
Reflection
Assess your relationship with God. Do you seek a daily dialogue with the Lord including reading His word and mindfully listening for His voice?
What areas of your life, if any, have you struggled to surrender to Him? What variables are affecting this obstacle? Have you recently surrendered an area and reaped the benefits?
Testify to someone, or even yourself, of God’s faithfulness to you after a prayer of repentance. Remember, repentance is the first step to salvation and restoration. Don’t take it for granted.
Today is the day of salvation.
